Phad painting originated and extensively practiced in Rajasthan, India is one of its kind scroll paintings based on traditional and folk tales. Phad, meaning a long piece of cloth, is used as a base on which Rajasthan’s folk deities, mostly Pabuji and Devnarayan are painted. The stories depicted in Phad are inspired and picked from Ramcharitmanas, Gita Govinda, Kumārasambhava, Bhagavad Gita and Hanuman Chalisa, and are used as mobile temples for folk deitie
